It’s 9 a.m., the clock is 7.60 A.M., the truck is packed and is on the road. The driver is not yet tired, nor sore nor injured. Two hours later, the truck stops at the Laos Border Gate. The border gate is a one-way gate. If you drive out, you have to reverse in. This is the only way that you can cross Laos to enter into China. You are allowed to take a ferry and travel further to cross into China. But the journey will be exhausting and long because of the difficult landscape of Tibet Autonomous Region Prefecture. But driving a pick-up truck is very easy for the driver, and the landscape is green and smooth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Route was intended to be from the border of Laos to Shenzhen as stated. After driving two hours from Luang Prabang, Laos to reach the border of China, we found that the road was closed due to work on the railway and we had to take a from Vang Vieng to Kaeng Khoi, Laos. The road is 100 percent dirt and it was quite difficult to get into Laos. Kaeng Khoi is in Southern Laos and it is the gateway to southern China. We then found out that the road has been upgraded and we were able to drive from Kaeng Khoi to Vientiane via Lop Samdie and Ban Mai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We travelled from the epicenter of tourism in south east Asia to the manufacturing heartland in mainland China. This was a unique way of visiting each of China’s 16 great regions. These are the places that China calls home, yet they can be hard to reach on a typical China visit. We explored the country and each of China’s 16 regions to understand the unique culture, history and heritage. The convoy consisted of a Ford truck, three drivers from Hong Kong, USA and mainland China. We made this trip together, Our convoy started our journey from south east Asia, where we saw the lifestyle of the people first hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The part of the journey when I went to Tibet was a great experience because it is so different from other places I have visited, I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
